Mozambique - "The Jade of Indian Ocean". 

Mozambique is the nation on the coastal area of Indian Ocean, on the South East of Africa, the South of the country attaching to South Africa, the North attaching to Tanzania, the East attaching to Malawi, Zambia, Zimbabue and Swaziland.

With the beautiful long beach lying along Indian Ocean, Mozambique is one of the countries with many tourist sightseeings which attracts travellers who enjoy nature and ocean, and those who love watersports.

Maputo is the capital city of Mozambique. This is the largest and most important coastal city with important harbours. Compared to the near-Sahara desert cities of Africa, the suburb of Maputo is smaller. But the roads here are covered with cool shades from the trees, and the air is very fresh. Being in Maputo, tourists can witness the uniqueness of constructions from French architect Gustave Eiffel: Maputo station and the famous Para dos Trabalhadoresi.

Tourists may also visit the National Art Museum, where art collections of Mozambican are exhibited, including lots of oil paintings.


Tourists should not miss the Mercado centre of Baixa district – the place where local people sell fresh sea food like fish, crabs, squids, etc…and different types of exotic fruits and vegetables, together with other types of good food.

Travellers should also spend time to walk around the neighbouring area of Avenida Julius Nyerere hotel. They have handicrafts and souvenirs shops, along with other local specialties.

On Ponta d’Ouro beach, tourists may swim and dive to explore the ocean, or surf as well. Also, the visit to the reefs of Manta is not to be underestimated. Almost all of the diving sights are at the depth of 25-30 metres so you will be guided and assisted by special diving equipments.


If tourists enjoy discovering the uniqueness of architectural structures of Mozambique, Inhambane is an address worth visiting. Inhambane town is 484 kilometres away from the capital city Maputo. Here lies lots of beautiful constructions and is considered one of the most beautiful towns of Mozambique. From this peninsula, tourists can observe the beautiful landscape of the whole bay area.

What can be more enjoyable than to sit back and relax on the resorts around Tofo beach? This beach attracts tourists because of the magnificent sightseeings, the lively nights and a perfect place for swimming. There are restaurants which serve delicious food for tourists, and they can also enjoy mountainous sights, humpback whales and white sharks.

Snorkelling is a very exciting sport experience. Joining this sport, tourist can swim with the largest shark species in the world. Although they have a 1-metre-wide mouth and a body length of 8 metres, these sharks are absolutely harmless. If lucky, tourist can also swim with dolphins and stingrays, or look at them from the boat.


Another tourist attraction of Mozambique which is no less exciting is Archipelago. This place is currently a National conservation park. Sand hills are found all over Archipelago and saltwater lakes attract sea birds to build their nests here. Besides that, large coral reefs of this area are the homes of thousands of fish species and other mammals. With fresh and lively beauty, magnificent beaches, tranquil seas, affordable accommodations and convenient services, Archipelago is called “The Jade of Indian Ocean”.
